All About the greyhound trust in Kent

Greyhounds have a long and rich history which should have earned them pride of place by our sides. First recorded more than 4,000 years ago, greyhounds are one of the oldest breeds of dog known to man. Revered by the ancient Egyptians, greyhounds are also the only dog breed mentioned by name in the bible.

Unfortunately, many greyhounds are left with nowhere to go after their racing careers have ended. The Greyhound Trust is an organisation that is dedicated to rescuing, caring for and rehoming ex-racing greyhounds from around the country. Greyhound Trust Harvel (Croftview) is the trusts original rehoming kennel, established in 1977, to date we've rehomed over 3,250 dogs and our mission is to ensure that eventually every greyhound will have a home when they retire.

What is the Greyhound Trust?

Founded in 1975, the Greyhound Trust aims to provide care and to help find new homes for ex-racing greyhounds. The Trust operates over 70 volunteer-run branches across Britain and is registered with the Charity Commission (registered number 269668 & SC044047).

What are the Objectives of the Trust?

The Greyhound Trust's main objective is to reach the day when no ex-racing greyhound in Britain is mistreated or left without a caring and safe home. We strive to provide the highest standard of care for our greyhounds and to ensure that they all find their forever homes.

About the Trust's Funding

Although the Greyhound Trust has a grant from the British Greyhound Racing Fund (BGRF) and does benefit from donations from the greyhound racing industry, we are still very much dependant on the generosity of the public.
